Nineteen-year-old Tish O’Malley has loved Josh “The Guardian” Sylvan since she was a child. When her reticent hero returns to Queen Creek after serving a three-year prison term meant for her mother, Tish is through pretending this man nearly twice her age isn’t the only happiness she’s ever known.

Will the viciously loyal Sergeant at Arms stand by his instant and brutal rejection of the woman Tish has become? Or will he give in and claim her as his young queen despite his best efforts to resist the one female who should never have made it on his radar?

*PLEASE BE AWARE Blind Devotion was formerly released in October 2015 as HIS YOUNG QUEEN by TIFF P. RAINE. It has been revised, has a new title and cover, but has not been altered enough for any information to be missed if you don’t re-read before continuing with the books that will follow. This is the intro to the STEEL JACKALS MC series, and it’s in Tish O’Malley’s POV only. Hers and Josh’s story will continue in dual POV in BLIND FAITH, which is scheduled for release at the end of February 2017. Oh, and please also be aware, Josh has a filthy mouth, and his young queen loves it!

**WARNING Contains drug use, profanity, and explicit sexual situations. If you’re not comfortable with frequent use of the C-words or a demanding alpha biker fresh out of prison, please don’t purchase this book. +18

Blind Devotion Steel Jackals MC Book 1 edition by Nancy Haviland Literature Fiction eBooks

After reading Nancy Haviland's "Wanted Men" series, her books became an auto-buy for me. I was thrilled to find an author who could create great alpha males, interesting heroines, and riveting plots with plenty of steam.

That is why this book was such a shock. It is hard to believe it was written by the same author. Ironically, the idea of a 28 year old man protecting a 10 year old girl for 6 years and then having sex with her when she is 19, is not the biggest problem of the book. If you can't get past the ick factor of a teenager having sex with someone who has been like an uncle to her, then you should stop right here.

I was willing to go along for the ride because it was Nancy Haviland. The biggest issue is that this is barely a novella. It is more of a premise. Any high school student knows there are five elements to a plot. This book is lacking three of them. Character development is also sadly missing. Tish is a good girl who has spent her childhood mopping up her drug-addicted mother's bodily fluids. We are treated to detailed accounts of vomiting, urinating and defecating in the living room. Mom is bad and stays bad. Tish puts Cinderella to shame. Josh is a rough guy with a soft spot and a hard on. There are opportunities to fill in the blanks of Josh's life, but the author skips them with a one sentence summary. His three years in prison are similarly glossed over. We know he misbehaved while incarcerated, but have no idea why his five year sentence was shortened to three. This is supposed to be an MC book, but there is no MC action, just a few references to the club house.

Dirty talk and sex scenes don't make up for what is lacking in this novella. If you haven't read Nancy Haviland before, don't start here. If you are a fan of her other series, download the sample first. Better yet, just enjoy the cover.

Blind Devotion Steel Jackals MC Book 1 edition by Nancy Haviland Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

Tish O'Malley mother, Rachel was an heroine addict, Tish was her mothers caregiver during her childhood in a reverse role lifestyle. After moving to Queen Creek at the age of ten, she met her mothers stepbrother as Uncle Nick. Nick was a member of the Steel Jackals MC. Josh Sylvan is the best friend to Nick and was called the guardian of the Steel Jackals MC, he was sent to babysit Tish while her mother was absence. Tish obtained the childhood crushed for Josh at the golden age of ten that lasted for years. Josh demeanor changed after returning from protective, sweet talking to overbearing, dirty talking with extremely vulgar language. I didn't care for the enormous gap in age. I truly loved the Wanted Men series by this author and her writing is great but this one didn't sit well with me.
2.5 stars

Blind Devotion is book 1 in the Steel Jackals series, and a novella introducing us to Tish and Josh. Their story continues in book 2. This book started off really good for me, poor Tish doesn't have the best life with her drug addicted mom and so much responsibility is placed on her 6 year old shoulders. All that changes when she's around 9 and meets her Uncle Nick and Josh from the Steel Jackals MC. Josh becomes her favorite person in the world, she absolutely adores him and eventually as she becomes a young woman her love for Josh starts changing into something more. When Josh is sent to prison her entire world changes and her heart breaks especially when she goes to visit and Josh refuses to see her. She's confused and hurt but Josh does it for her to enjoy her young life. She's only seventeen at this point.

The second half of the book is where the author loses me. It's now 2 years later and Josh is now out of prison and he shows up at Tish's home, IMO his reaction to her was OTT ridiculous. The sex scenes were so long and after a while boring, to much talking for my taste. I probably won't continue with their story because I prefer my h's to have more sass and a backbone to handle an OTT jealous/possessive male. Her adoration for Josh allows him to make all the decision and tell her what to do and she does just like a good puppy. Also the whole call me Master was a big NO for me. This story does have an age gap that didn't bother me but may bother some she is almost 20 and he is 39.
Oh my. What an outstanding read! I love, love, love MC books and this one just went to the top of my list. I can't wait for the next book. This is very common with this author's books. Totally and completely addictive and you find yourself stalking her website and FB hoping for the release date of the next book. I love her Wanted Men series (Mafia), my first series of that genre so I figured I'd love this one as well. But oh my goodness, it was just awesome. Total badass MC, such a sweet love story. I wasn't sure what I'd think about the age difference between the couple, but their story is just so great that it didn't bug me at all. I can't wait to read the rest of Josh and Tish's story and meet more of the Steel Jackals. If you love MC, download this one immediately!
This was a sexy MC read. I loved all characters. Nancys writing is just phenomenal. Great story. Can't wait for more.
I absolutely fell completely in love with both characters. You have your dirty alpha male with your strong loyal woman. I love how the story has me still guessing. On to read the next book. 10 stars
This is a good start.

If you want down and dirty loving with a extreme dirty talking biker this is your story to love. You have to be ok with a big age difference.

Josh is one dirty talking man with tons of dirty thoughts. He is one possessive guy. He is kinda hot if you like that.

Good start I am going to read the next one for sure.
No, thank you. Overall liked the wanted men series, the alpha male characters and their heroines. On the strength of the overall series I read this one. The hero here was lacking in the qualities I found in her previous series. The hero kept ruminating on the same concepts without resolution and without a background as to why he so important to the club. The heroine doesn't live up to the previous heroines the author had written in the wanted men series. I think the creepiness of an 'uncle/big brother type figure' falling for his niece/little sister ruins this book for me.
